Driving is a skill for life, so make sure the person who teaches you this skill
is up to scratch!
Finding a driving instructor can be quite tricky when you haven’t got a personal
recommendation. You may be tempted to go for one of the national driving schools
due to their presence and number of instructors, you might think that with so many
of them about, they must be doing something right! The problem with this is, any
fully qualified driving instructor, (or in some cases partly qualified) does not
work for their respective national driving school, instead, they have taken a franchise
with that school and in most cases have not been personally checked by the school
themselves to ensure they are a competent enough driving instructor even if they
are fully qualified. You should note that it is not necessary to have passed your
theory test to begin taking driving lessons, it can help because you will be able
to crack on with booking your test and passing without the theory test holding you
back. Your driving lessons should help you with your theory test as you will learn
general rules of the road as you go.
The best option you have is a personal recommendation, ask your friends and family
about their experiences with their driving instructor and if they were positive
you should try and get in contact with him/her.
