Before you start taking lessons, let us give you a few guidelines.
So you’ve found an instructor, and they’ve told you the dreaded trio of words, ‘Lets
swap over’. You are behind the driver’s seat, possibly for the first time in your
life and you are shortly going to be responsible for moving the car. Its time to
rid those nerves and get down to business, let Fineline Driving Academy give you
a few pointers to help your learning process be as smooth as possible.
• DRESS ACCORDINGLY!
Wear something you are comfortable in, remember that you may be sitting down for
a while and therefore you will want to feel as comfortable as possible. Most importantly,
wear the appropriate footwear! Don’t turn up in heels for obvious reasons, or safety
boots that would be more familiar with a construction site or the sandals you wore
at the beach on your last holiday! Try to wear the same footwear each lesson, this
will help when you are trying to get used to the biting point (clutch) which will
be a big part of the early stages of your driving journey. Also, if you wear glasses
or contact lenses, make sure you use them on your lessons! Dont worry about your
appearance behind the wheel, if you have been prescribed visual aids then there
must be a reason for this so don’t be silly, get those specs out!
• GET THE TIMING RIGHT!
Choose a time of day when you feel the most fresh, if you are not a morning person
then don’t have lessons in the morning and equally if you are an early bird then
don’t have a lesson in the evening. If you always feel knackered after a long days
work, try to have your lessons on your days off to ensure you get the most out of
your lessons. You need to give driving your full attention and not to mention, if
you aren’t too interested during your driving lessons then you are practically throwing
your money away.
• ENJOY YOUR DRIVING LESSONS!
This one might seem silly but it has emerged as a large factor of previous clients
who have learned with us at Fineline Driving Academy. We have learned that clients
who enjoy their lessons and WANT to get a license are always the most successful
in terms of the speed at which they pass and how many attempts it takes them to
pass. You should always be in the mindset of looking forward to lessons in order
to take in the most information, we find learners who aren’t too interested and
just learning because of pressure from parents or just for the sake of it tend to
take longer to pass and thus end up spending more. We at Fineline Driving Academy
base our lessons around an enjoyment factor, as a company we randomly call our learners
for feedback and reward our instructors if this feedback is good so you can be sure
that your instructor will have your best interests in mind at all times!
• DONT DRIVE UNDER THE INFLUENCE!
If you are currently on medication which dictates that you should not operate a
motor vehicle then please don’t. Your instructor probably won’t know this unless
you’ve told them and you will be putting your instructor and yourself at risk, and
also putting innocent road users at risk. Additionally, do not learn under the influence
of drugs or alcohol. This is very irresponsible and could land you with a hefty
fine and/or a jail sentence.
